Joaquín Michavila (L'Alcora, 1926 - Albalat dels Tarongers, 2016) was Professor of Didactics of the Plastic

Formed as a Master, he completed his studies with a BA in Fine Arts, teaching at the University of Valencia between 1966 and 1991. His teaching and research activity combined with a parallel artistic career.
Since the beginning of the 1950's, his extensive, pictorial production experienced a constant personal evolution and artistic that shaped its conceptual and emotional restlessness, becoming a reference of the Valencian pictorial abstraction with international projection.

In the university field he was director of the Department of Didactics of Musical, Plastic and Corporal Expression, and promoter of the first audiovisual laboratory of the University of Valencia, creating an experimentation group called Mirall.

Academic of Fine Arts of San Carlos de Valencia, presided over this artistic institution, of which I am Academic of Honor. He was also a member of the Martínez Guerricabeitia Board of Trustees of the General Foundation of the University of Valencia.

He received the Distinction to the Cultural Merit of the Generalitat Valenciana, the Gold Medal of the City of Valencia and the Prize of
Plastic Arts.
