Adela Cortina will be invested honoured doctor by the University of Salamanca on Friday

The emeritus professor of the Universitat de València, Adela Cortina, will be invested honoured professor at the University of Salamanca on Friday 22 of June. The solemn act will start at 5 p.m. The Philosopher Victoria Camps will be honoured in the session as well.

It will be presided over by the Principal Ricardo Rivero and the Vice-president of the Spanish government, Carmen Calvo, will be present at the event. 

Adela Cortina is a retired professor in Ethics and Political Philosophy of the Universitat de València. She was the first full member of the Royal Spanish Academy of Moral and Political Sciences since its foundation in 1857. She is an honoured professor in 12 national and international universities and has been a member of the jury in the Príncipe y Princesa de Asturias Awards in the categories of Communication and Humanities, and Social Sciences. She was given the Jovellanos International Essay Award in 2007 and a National Essay Award in 2014.

Some of her books are “Ética mínima”, “Ética sin moral”, “Ética aplicada y democracia radical”, “Ciudadanos del mundo”, “Por una ética del consumo”, “Ética de la razón cordial”, “Las fronteras de la persona”, “Justicia cordial”, “Neuroética y neuropolítica”, “¿Para qué sirve realmente la ética?” The latter received the National Essay Award in 2014.  She was given the Valencian Literary Critic Award in the category of Essays and Reviews in 2018 because of her book “Aporofobia, el rechazo al pobre. Un desafío para la democracia.”
