The spin-offs linked to the University of Valencia OPTICALSENS, MicroLabBiotech, MATTECO TEAM and EVOLVING THERAPEUTICS have presented their research projects at the Transfiere forum, a meeting held in Malaga from March 20 to 22, the largest annual Spanish science forum, technology and innovation, and that has connected the entire Spanish innovation system to boost its international projection. The academic institution was present at the CV+i Comunitat Valenciana stand and also at the CRUE-RedOTRI stand.

This is a meeting in which more than 500 companies and public administrations, and 50 academic entities, participate annually, and which constitutes one of the largest European events on R&D&i and knowledge transfer.

Evolving Therapeutics, spin-off of the University of Valencia (UV), has participated in the RedOTRI-CRUE success stories round table at Transfiere 2024. The researcher Ramón y Cajal from the UV and co-founder of the company, Pilar Domingo-Calap, highlighted the importance of the transfer and, where appropriate, the development of new biotechnological solutions to combat resistant bacteria, many of them to multiple antibiotics and without treatments available to date.

Chemical submission is a public safety problem, especially for women. From the Transfer Forum, Tania Mariel Godoy Reyes explained the solution that the spin-off Celentis (OpticalSens) has developed for this problem. OpticalSens is a renowned company and owned by the University of Valencia (UV) and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) that markets chemical submission drug detection sensors and senescence sensors, although it works on the development of chemical sensors and biomarkers of high scientific and industrial value.

Manuel Quesada Vilar presented Matteco, a spin-off of the University of Valencia, a pioneer in the development of new catalysts and electrodes for the production of green hydrogen as a step to accelerate the decarbonisation of the global economy.

MicroLab Biotech SL, another spin-off of the University of Valencia, was presented by Giuseppe Meca de Caro. The company develops active materials of natural origin based on botanical extracts and products fermented by microorganisms, which serve as a substrate for the formulation of biostimulant/biocontrol products and for the development of biopreservatives for foods and that extend their useful life.

The Research Centre has acted as a space in which cutting-edge prototypes from research groups and university spin-offs, technology centres, private entities and startups are presented. During the three days of the Transfer Forum within the framework of the Elevator Pitch, prototypes and international research projects in the fields of Health, Sustainability, Sustainable Construction, Advanced Manufacturing, International Universities and Disruptive Technologies have been presented with brief speeches.
