The Institute on Robotics and Information and Communication Technologies (IRTIC) of the Universitat de València has developed the application AIPD (Avaluació d'Impacte relativa a la Protecció de Dades, Impact Assessment relating to Data Protection) for the Catalan Authority for the Protection of Data (APDCAT). This tool will assist companies in their self-assessments concerning the processing of personal data and will ensure that the processing of this sensitive information does not infringe their rights.
AIPD consists of a cross-platform desktop application (Windows, Linux, Mac) provided with a form that helps define the processing of the data that the company or its legal representatives will carry out. The tool allows you to generate an Impact Assessment document that conforms to the current data protection regulations.
In this way, it contributes to decision-making on data protection regulations, risk analysis and risk prevention measures. It can be downloaded from the APDCAT website and then installed on the computer.
The data protection regulations oblige companies to carry out a self-assessment of the risks associated with the processing of personal data. In this sense, the application supports the companies in the creation of a report that will facilitate this task and which they will have if necessary.
