A debate about Valencian regionalization closes Universitat d’Estiu in Gandia

On Tudesday, the 26th of July, at 8 p.m. in sala de actos (assembly hall) of Casa de Cultura Marquez González de Quirós the closing of the 33rd edition of Universitat d’Estiu de Gandia (UEG) will take place: a round table discussion titled “Valencian regionalization, opportunity or necessity” will be moderated by the professor of Geography at UV, Joan Carles Membrado.

General Director of Ordenación del Territorio, Urbanismo y Paisaje of the Generalitat, Josep Lluís Ferrando; vice-principal of Participation and Territorial Projection at UV, Jorge Hermosilla; the provincial deputy of commonwealth and regionalization, Diana Morant; and the councillor of territory and geography at the Town Hall of Denia, Maria Josep Ripoll, will participate in the discussion.

Ferrando will expound the political projects of the new government regarding territorial organization in the Valencia region. Vice-principal Jorge Hermosilla will speak about his academic vision as an expert on territory. Morant will talk about the vision of the Valencian Provincial Council regarding this subject matter, while Maria Josep Ripoll will focus on the debate about the central regions.

This Monday, the 25th of July, the last courses of UEG took place. They were: “Getting to know the cultural heritage of the central regions of Valencia” and “Introduction to mindfulness in a business setting: toward a positive management of stress and leadership”.

An open discussion and reflexion at a round table about the situation of the central regions, will end this year´s edition of the event. The event has had the participation of more than 400 registered students and hundreds of participants attending various  activities open to the public, such as “les Nits”, presentations, round tables.
