Verónica Cantó, secretary of the Valencian Language Academy (AVL), stated last Thursday, in the presentation dedicated to Valencian normative corpus, that ‘our normative works have been carried out from a Valencian perspective, with convergence certainty with the rest of the linguistic sphere’, and that the institution ‘is willing to spread and make the normative corpus formed by the DNV and the ‘Valencian Normative Grammar’ available for society.
Due to this reason, the course presented by Canto, under the name ‘De la Palabra al Corpus Normativo del Valenciano’ (From the word to the Valencian Normative Corpus) aims to deepen in the knowledge of the AVL’s normative works’ contents, especially in relation to grammatical and lexical innovations. On the other hand, it also aims to analyze criteria, know the documental sources and which are the academic institution’s contributions to the lexicographic and grammatical tradition in the fixation of Valencian linguistic normative.
The AVL’s secretary has explained that these normative works are conceived to be useful to the diversity of users that Valencian language has nowadays, ‘joining traditional lexicography with current terminologies and also with the aim of orienting on new more advisable forms in formal registers and in standard, but all of them following the normative purposes within a general description of the language structure’.
The course counts with the participation of academics Jorge Colomina, president of the former Comision del Diccionario Normativo Valenciano (Valencian Normativ Dictionary Comission); Manuel Perez Saldany, current Grammar coordinator; Emili Casanova, president of the Onomastic Section; Artur Ahuir, speaker to the DNV Comission; Angel Calpe, member of the Lexicographic Section, and Josep Lacreu, head of the Linguistic and Technic Resources Unitiy of the AVL.
