The UV holds the third conference on reading, education and technology

The UV, through the ERI-Reading (Interdisciplinary Research Structure for Reading Research), holds the days 2 and 3 of September the 3rd Conferences on Reading, Education and Technology, which will take place in the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Psychology (Blasco Ibañez 21, Valencia). The opening ceremony, at 17:00, will be carried out by Eduardo Vidal Abarca, the only Spanish researcher which is part of the world’s committee which generates the PISA test.

In the first conference, on Tuesday 2, issues such as reading on screens, the creation of easy-to-read texts for people with intellectual disability, language and reading in special population, as well as the application of reading comprehension programmes in the classrooms will be dealt.

On Wednesday 3, the experts will address the evolutionary studies about reading on the internet and will focus on merely scientific facts of internal aspect.

The ERI-Reading is an Interdisciplinary Research Structure which investigates and spreads the research on reading in both paper and digital environment. It investigates from word recognition to information integration in multi-documents, the difficulties that people find in these tasks or the promotion of literary reading. Its research combines the experimental rigour and precision with the study of applied tasks or the development of products and techniques to assess and improve reading skills.

On the other hand, it also spreads the outcomes of its researches in scientific environments and among professionals and organizations interested in the improvement of the population’s reading skills. With this purpose, these annual conferences on reading are held and educative centres, enterprises and institutions are advised.
