The University of Valencia positions like the third Spanish university in performance of scientific publications in the NTU Ranking

NTU Ranking statewide.

The National University of Taiwan (NTU) has published recently his National Taiwan University Ranking (NTU Ranking) of 2014 that analyses the productivity and the impact of the excellence researcher of the scientific publications of the best universities of the world. The ranking analyses a total of eight bibliometrics indicators based in the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) of the Institute of the Scientific Information (ISI) and the Web of Science (WOS).

The international ranking is headed by the universities of Harvard, John Hopkins, Stanford and Toronto. Oxford University appears like the first European institution occupying the eighth position, beside the University of California Berkeley and the Massachusetts Technological Institute (MIT).

In this edition, the University of Valencia occupies the location 211, a position that improves with regard to the previous editions, 224 in 2013 and 253 in 2012. This improvement situates to the University of Valencia like the 90 European university and the 3th Spanish in performance of scientific publications, only surpassed by the University of Barcelona and the University Autònoma of Barcelona. 

Regarding the areas of knowledge that analyses the ranking, the University of Valencia achieves a good position in the edition 2014: Agricultural Sciences (71 in Europe), Clinical Medicine (120), Social Sciences (88) and Sciences of the Life (38), where stand out especially in Chemistry and Physical, and not only has achieved  a good position to European level (22 and 40, respectively), but also it keeps the 2n position that already had last year in both matters on state scale state.  

“The systematic use of the ranking is a fundamental tool for the strategic politics of the institution, is a way to surrender accounts to the society and to guarantee the university quality through the advertising of evident data. The improvement achieved in the positioning of the NTU Ranking has been possible thanks to the work and the effort of the researchers of the University of Valencia”, has declared Clara Martínez, vice-chancellor of Sustainability and Planning of the University of Valencia.
