Challenges for a GO! Culture: Local Transparency

The Open Government policies define a new framework of social and democratic innovation whose ultimate objective is the empowerment of citizenship so that it reaches the real power of knowing, controlling and constantly influencing in public matters that affect and interest them. In this sense, the public value they provide constitutes an essential element for the construction of a new way of understanding democracy, the government and the Administration.

Open Government is coordinated through transparency, participation and accountability pillars. In this context, transparency is the key to know the extent of public policies. . It is not only based on enforcing regional and state laws but also on allowing a public opinion setting up on the access to reliable and accessible information.

These conferences, organised by Universitat de València in collaboration with Provincial Council of Valencia, have the aim of raising awareness in transparency, participation and accountability in elected representatives, technical staff with power over transparency and open government, citizenship and civil society, through round tables and conferences given by university professors experts in these matters.
