In order to be a member of the team that will represent the Universitat de València in the University Debate League of the Xarxa Vives it is necessary to be selected after completing this training

This course is coordinated and given by Andrés Sienta Pons, professor of the Department of Catalan Language of the Universitat de València. With the collaboration of professor Sandra Montserrat, Joan Nave, actor, and Jose Luis Siurana, dubbing actor. All of them will provide the course with contributions from different areas of communication.

There is an increasing awareness about the importance of oral communication. From doctors who must communicate with patients and families, to scientists who participate in congresses, or lawyers who have to convince with the power of the word... Or even students who make presentations and have to defend works. We all need to master orality. Nevertheless, it is possible that no one has taught you how to face all these situations.

Public speaking is not a gift, but a joint of skills that can be learnt. In this course ‘Let’s speak in public, how we present our arguments’ you will learn to prepare oral discourses aimed at convincing, exercise in order to loose fear, work on your voice and debate.

CERTIFICATION: To obtain the certificate it is necessary to attend to the course or workshop. Attendance is mandatory. Absence must be properly justified and shall not exceed the 20% of the duration of the activity.

ACADEMIC RECOGNITION OF THE COURSE: 1 ECTS.

REGISTRATION PERIOD: From 23 January to 6 February 2017.

TRAINING PHASE:

Once the course is finished, the students who have been selected for the Universitat’s team will have to carry out a 10-hour training period. This phase does not require a new enrolment. The dates are as follows:

Tuesday 21 March from 17 to 19 h.

Tuesday 28 March from 17 to 19 h.

Tuesday 4 April from 17 to 20 h.

Tuesday 11 April from 17 to 20 h.
