The Universitat de València and its environment: l’Horta de València

Inauguration on 21 September, 13:30h

More than thirty experts - including teaching staff and researchers from different areas of the Universitat and other specialists related to l'Horta region - have collaborated in the preparation of the 25 panels that form the showing. Multidisciplinarity is the characteristic feature of this exhibition, which reviews aspects of l'Horta from the point of view of environmental education, biodiversity (flora, vegetation, fauna, borders), cultural values (literature, painting), human and physical geography, art history, archaeology and history.

In the preparation of the exhibition professors from several departments of the Universitat have been involved: Dept. of Geography (Joan Romero, Carles Sanchis, Alejandro Pérez, Joan Carles Membrado, Josep Vicent Boira, Pilar Carmona and Research Unit ESTEPA), Dept. of Prehistory and Archaeology (José Luis Jiménez), Dept. of Medieval History (Antoni Furió and Enric Guinot), Dept. of Economic Analysis (Salvador Calatayud), Dept. of Language Theory (Martí Domínguez), Dept. of Art History (Carmen Gracia and Adrià Besó), Dept. of Microbiology and Ecology (Pablo Vera, Juan S. Monrós, Juan Rueda and Cristina Molina), Dept. of Botany (Gerardo Stübing, Pablo Ferrer, Juan Bautista and Alberto Guillén), Dept. of Didactics of Experimental and Social Sciences (Ignacio García and Javier García), Dept. of Architecture (Beatriz Giobellina), Dept. of Constitutional Law (Antonio Montiel).

The sample is framed within the will of the Universitat to make known and disseminate the main aspects of the Valencian territory through the enriching contributions of professors and researchers. With these initiatives, the Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, tries to disseminate the riches that these singular spaces harbour, as well as the difficulties and transformations that they go through. In short, with this exhibition the Universitat tries to promote l'Horta de València, a cultural and environmental landscape that must be protected.
