The Faculty of Physics of Universitat de València, among the three best ones of Spain, according to the Shanghai ranking

The Faculty of Physics of Universitat de València position, is among the three best ones of Spain and in the 101 to 150 best ones in the world, according to the prestigious Shanghai ranking, which Shanghai Jiao Tong Unversity will make. In Spain, the one of Valencia has only been exceeded in Spain by the Autonomous University of Madrid, and it is tied with La Laguna university. The University of Barcelona is on the fourth position (in the group of 151 to 200 best ones in the world).

Fernando Martínez, a secretary of the Faculty of Physics of Universitat de València, showed his satisfaction by the Shanghai ranking data, and he explained that this classification, above all, analyses research and impact on the publications generated from the centre. Martínez believes this position to be a motivation for everyone, and he seems to be convinced that it will have an impact on the election of future university students.


The Faculty of Physics of Universitat de València, former name: Faculty of Physical Sciences, was created on 19th September of 1977 because of a ministerial decree which divided the old Faculty of Sciences of Universitat de València into four faculties (Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Biological sciences).


Its origins are from October 1964, together with the creation of the Physical Sciences Section in the former Science Faculty, located in Avenida de Blasco Ibáñez number 13, which since there was only the Chemical Sciences section. The subsequent birth of the sections of Mathematics and Biological sciences, the progressive increase of students and the imminent transfer and the present Campus de Burjassot, favoured the division in 4 of the mentioned faculties.
