From today, Tuesday 16 December, La Nau Cultural Centre of the Universitat de València hosts the exhibition “Itinerarios de una colección” (Collection Itineraries) with works of the Coca-Cola Foundation, which are shown in a university for the first time. The exhibition, which is part of the series “Contextos” (Contexts) of Patronat Martínez Guerricabeitia, symbolises the pluralist character of society through 31 works of 30 artists of different generations, styles and means.

This exhibition, which will be open to the public until 13 April 2015 in the Martínez Guericabeitia Hall, has been presented by Antonio Ariño, Vice-Principal of Culture and Equality of the Universitat de València; José Pedro Martínez, director of the Martínez Guerricabeitia Foundation Activities of the UV General Foundation; Juan José Litrán, director of Coca-Cola Foundation; and Lorena Martínez de Corral, organizer of the Art Collection of the Coca-Cola Foundation.

At this time, all artists presented in the exhibition are essentials when it comes to draw the map of contemporary creation of visual arts in Spain and Portugal. Among them some names stand out, for instance, the Valencian Victoria Civera and other artists such as José Pedro Croft, José María Sicilia, Alicia Martín, José Manuel Ballester or Rubén Guerrero.

During the presentation, Antonio Ariño, Vice-Principal of Culture and Equality of the Universitat de València, has stood out the selection of works made by Coca-Cola Foundation for this exhibition: “It’s the best Spanish and Portuguese contemporary art from the beginning of the nineties until now”, he said and he stressed “the commitment to art creation as the result of expressive and intellectual freedom of human being” of the collection of the Coca-Cola Foundation as well as the Martínez Guerricabeitia of the Universitat de València.

For his part, Juan José Litrán, director of Coca-Cola Foundation, has pointed out “that this exhibition reinforces the commitment of the Coca-Cola Foundation with culture and talent of our land to bring closer contemporary art to all public”.

The works shown in this exhibition belong to the Art Collection of the Coca-Cola Foundation, which nowadays have more than 350 works of around 250 artists. From 1993, Coca-Cola Foundation acquires works of current Spanish artists as well as Portuguese artists, with the aim to support knowledge and spreading contemporary art of the Iberian Peninsula and with which shows its commitment with young artists. Since 2007, these works have been placed in the “DA2.Domus Artium 2002” of Salamanca.

The Coca-Cola Foundation collection has been shown in several cities of Canary Island, Extremadura or Andalusia and it has received more than 200,000 visitors.
