Valencian Public universities, together in the promotion of entrepreneurship

Moment de la inauguració.

Within the framework the Enterprising Innovative Campus of the Valencian Government, the five public Valencian universities (the UV, Universidad Miguel Hernández, Universitat Jaume I, Universidad de Alicante and Universidad Politécnica de Valencia) have inaugurated the first “Summer Schools Network” for university professors who want to motivate Valencian Community entrepreneurship.

The network has as a main purpose foster entrepreneurship among university professors so as to motivate their students.

The inauguration ceremony of the Network has been headed by Esteban Morcillo, UV principal and Máximo Buch, Minister of Economy, Industry, Tourism and Employment; and intervened by the principals and the main responsibilities for the participating universities through a videoconference.

During the ceremony, the principal of the UV has emphasised the commitment of Valencian public universities with innovation and entrepreneurship and has also recalled the importance for the Valencian university system to work with enterprises. <Entrepreneurship must steep in classrooms and it must be visualised in a wider context with the main goal of fostering and maintaining the university-enterprise relationship>, has highlighted Esteban Morcillo.

In the same way, the Minister of Economy, Industry, Tourism and Employment, has underlined the importance for enterprises to hire staff educated at the University. <We need enterprises to be led by people with education and a critical spirit and all these requirements are acquired through the University> has pointed out Buch. Currently, the 59 per cent of the professional management is formed by prepared university students, a low figure, as the Minister has said, and has highlighted at the same time, that society<needs enterprising university students, thus future enterprises may count with trained staff and with a critical spirit>.

Inaugurated the 6th Summer School at the UV

Within the framework of this network, the UV, through ADEIT, its Foundation Universidad-Empresa (University- Enterprise) has started the 6th edition of the Summer School for university professors who want to motivate entrepreneurship. This “school” has been started with the lecture “La motivación del espíritu emprendedor en el aula” (Entrepreneurship Motivation in the classroom) run by Marcos Eguiguren, enterpriser and consultant and by the Vice-principal of Academic Regulations and Teaching Staff of the UV.

Through this school, 26 professors will be given an education orientated to obtaining of knowledge about entrepreneurship with the purpose of transferring these tools to their students. A total of 123 university professors have taken part in the first five editions of this “Summer School”, 93 of those professors belonged to the UV, and the 30 professors left belonged to other universities, both from Spain and overseas.
