The CEPS Foundation has produced the "Volver a nacer", co-directed by Paco Simón and Óscar Bernàcer. This project is the product of research on those colombian Patriotic Union members who went on exile to Spain and it has been funded by the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation.
The PU united the main left wing Colombian parties and the FARC guerrilla fighters, who had signed a truce in 1984. The good results obtained in the 1986 elections gave way to the political genocide of the Patriotic Union: in less than a decade, 4,000 members and sympathizers were assassinated, most at the hands the paramilitary forces, the miltary and the police.
