As the final part of the IMMC International Competition on Optimization Problems in Mathematics, the panel of experts met in Singapore to select the winning groups.

The IM²C is an international modeling competition for teams of high school students from several countries. The IM²C poses a series of real-world mathematical scenarios, and each team works for several days using freely available material (from the web and other sources). At the end of this time, each team presents a report on their solution. The challenge awards prizes to the best teams. The challenge has two levels: national and international. Based on the results of the national competitions, teams will be invited to participate at the international level.

The main objective of the IM²C is to promote mathematical modeling, encouraging participants to explore the application of mathematics in real-life situations to solve problems where the real-world context is of great importance. By promoting a mathematical modeling experience for high school students, the IM²C seeks to develop and enhance students' ability to visualize, understand, and apply mathematics in real-world contexts, providing a valuable opportunity for practical demonstration of learning in school and the application of theory.

Each year, more than 40 countries submit two teams of up to four students accompanied by a professor/teaching advisor. The international phase of the competition began in mid-March and ended in early May. The entries were judged in early June by the international panel of experts, and the winners will be announced in late June. For the 2025 edition, the committee of experts met in Singapore to evaluate the proposals of the selected participants in their respective national phases.

To select the competing teams that will advance to the national phase, the Spanish committee prepares a modeling problem for each edition of the competition, collects and evaluates the proposed solutions, and then selects a pair of teams to tackle the international sentence problem, designed by the international committee. The Spanish committee includes professors Jaime Castillo, Irene Ferrando, César Gallart, and Carlos Segura. In addition, throughout the week of May 23-28, Irene Ferrando, as a professor on the panel of experts formed by the members of the international committee to which she belongs, worked on the evaluation of the proposals submitted to make a final decision on the winners of the 2025 edition.
