Presentation by Carlos Segura at the "Miguel de Guzmán" School, with Irene Ferrando as a coordinator.
The 14th edition of the Miguel de Guzmán School of Mathematics Education, organized by the Federation of Societies of Mathematics Teachers and the RSME, was held this year in Granada on July 2, 3, and 4, 2025, under the title "Reasoning for Learning." As President of the RSME Education Committee, Professor Irene Ferrando actively participated in the organization of this school and was a member of the organizing committee. Aimed at teachers at all educational levels, the objectives of this activity are:
- To reflect on teaching strategies to promote mathematics learning based on conceptual reasoning.
- To identify the potential of certain types of activities to develop mathematical reasoning.
- To analyze which aspects to consider in the design of teaching situations that address diversity while ensuring meaningful mathematics learning.
- To showcase educational proposals that connect mathematics with art and technology.
Professor Carlos Segura presented a paper entitled "Does This Problem Require Mathematical Reasoning? Two or Three Things I Know About Posing Authentic, Open-Ended, and Complex Problems." You can access the presentation by following this link.
