The Social Sciences have been announcing for some decades now a new paradigm that articulates social and economic relations in a different way from that of conventional capitalism. Numerous literature, from Touraine and Bell or Toffler in the 1960s and 1970s to the most recent contributions of Castels, or Rifkin noted, among many other issues, the growing importance of "symbolistic dimension" as an attribute of property, territories or human groups themselves. What is relevant in this new environment is not the physical or functional characteristics of things/spaces/persons, but their meanings.
