
On 14 June, the Faculty of Economics of the Universitat de València held the inauguration of the 16th edition of the Family Business Course, entitled "Key aspects for its competitiveness and sustainability". This prestigious event was organised by the Chair of Family Business in collaboration with the Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs (AVE), the School of Entrepreneurs (EDEM), the Valencian Institute for the Study of Family Business (IVEFA), the Institute of Family Business (IEF) and the University of Valencia (UV), with the sponsorship of CaixaBank and Broseta.
The inaugural session began with a welcome speech by Alejandro Escribá, Director of the Chair of Family Business, who offered a warm welcome to the course participants. Francisco Muñoz, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, underlined the outstanding work of the Faculty of Economics and especially of the Chair of Family Business. Likewise, Bindhiya Vasandani, representative of AVE, and Emi Boix, president of IVEFA, highlighted the educational and informative importance of the Chair.
One of the highlights of the event was the inspiring inaugural lecture by Lara Guerrero, CEO of Pepina Pastel, who shared her experience as an enthusiastic and satisfied entrepreneur with her pastry project in the family business Pepina Pastel. Her intervention was highly motivating for all attendees.
The Family Business Course has the following main objectives:
- To understand the nature of a Family Business.
- To analyse its strengths and challenges.
- To understand the culture and typical conflicts in this environment.
- To present tools for the management and governance of the company.
- Address legal, tax and succession issues.
