The 17th edition of the CEFUV Family Business Course

Valencia, 9 June 2025.

The Chair of Family Business of the University of Valencia inaugurates the 17th edition of the Family Business Course, under the title ‘Key aspects for its competitiveness and sustainability’. This course is organised by the Chair, promoted by the Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs (AVE), the School of Entrepreneurs (EDEM), the Valencian Institute for the Study of Family Businesses (IVEFA), the Institute of Family Businesses (IEF) and the University of Valencia (UV), with the collaboration of CaixaBank and Broseta.

The inaugural day begins with a welcome from Alejandro Escribá, Director of the Chair of Family Business, who offers a warm welcome to the attendees and highlights the success of this edition, with a high number of registered participants. Francisco Muñoz, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, underlined the outstanding work of the Faculty and, in particular, of the Chair. Bindhiya Vasandani, representative of AVE, and Natalia Fuentes, representative of IVEFA, emphasised the educational and informative importance of the course.

One of the highlights is the inaugural conference given by Carlos Alapont, from the Alapont Group, who shares his experience in family business and states that ‘a living company is a polynomial where past failures are resolved unknowns and the keys to present and future successes’.

The main objectives of the Family Business Course are:

  • To understand the nature of a family business.
  • To analyse its strengths and challenges.
  • To understand the culture and typical conflicts in this environment.
  • To present tools for the management and governance of the company.
  • Address legal, tax, succession and risk issues.

Family businesses represent a fundamental pillar of the economy. This course is a unique opportunity for students, professionals and future leaders interested in developing in this special business environment with its own unique challenges.
