
On 31 October, the Faculty of Economics at the University of Valencia hosted the opening of the sixth edition of the course ‘Employment and Professional Development in Family Businesses’. This event was organised by UVempleo (ADEIT Foundation) and the Chair of Family Business promoted by the Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs (AVE), the School of Entrepreneurs (EDEM), the Valencian Institute for the Study of Family Business (IVEFA), the Institute of Family Business (IEF) and the University of Valencia (UV), in collaboration with CaixaBank and Broseta.
The course began with a welcome speech by Alejandro Escribá, director of the Chair of Family Business, who gave a warm welcome to the course participants.
The main objectives of the course are:
- To understand what family businesses (FB) are, the different agents involved in them, their relevance to the country's economy and employment, as well as their strengths and weaknesses.
 - To learn about the cultural profile of FBs and know how to integrate into them professionally in order to add value and develop professionally.
 - To develop skills that improve employability and enable effective career management.
 - To create opportunities for success in finding employment within an FB.
 - To foster personal talent with the support of experts, in order to generate value as an employee in the family business.
 - To promote innovation through positive conflict management within FBs.
 
This was followed by the sessions, the first of which was led by Alejandro Escribá, followed by UV psychology professors Pilar González and Lucía Llinares, who led mentoring session focused on improving employability.
