Announcement of two volumes by Pere Belluga

"Espejo de príncipes y de la justicia” and ”Speculum principis, quod Petrus a Bellugis Scripsit” will both be presented to the public on 27 March at the Faculty of Geography and History.

 

The books "Espejo de príncipes y de la justicia” (Mirror of princes and justice)  and ”Speculum principis, quod Petrus a Bellugis Scripsit” will be presented to the public at the Graduate Hall of the Faculty of Geography and History on 27 March at 1:00pm. Participating in the event will be Manuel Lomas Cortés, dean of the Faculty of Geography and History; Teresa Ferrer Valls, head of the PUV (Publications service of the UV); Teresa Canet Aparisi and Francisco Valero Olmos, translators of the first volume; and Manuel Vicente Febrer Romaguera, editor of the second volume.

‘Speculum Principum ac Iustitiae’, by Pere Belluga, is a text written in latin in the first half of the 15th century and printed almost 100 years later, in 1530. Is considered the first treaty about the Valencia Parliament. On it, Belluga analysed how the valencian parliamentary system worked in the late Middle Ages, a pact advocate political system opposed to the emerging monarchical authoritarianism tendencies. Its content was a juridical and doctrinal model for many learned and politics of the Middle Ages.
