The Board for Musical Activities of the General Foundation of the Universitat de València with the objective of promoting musical creation and dissemination within the University and, in its name, outside of it.  Its basic goal is to ease the entrance of music, both at training and interpreting level, in the educational process of our university students.

With this basic premise in mind, the Area for Musical Activities has given rise to a growing activity that has the following main points:

Musical Groups

The technical coordination and promotion of its own musical groups, such as the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Universitat de València, the Orfeó Universitari de València, the La Nau Choir School of the Universitat de València, the Nau Gran Choral Club UV and the Colla de Dolçaines i Percussió of the Universitat de València.

It is a collection of more than 350 people who rehearse on a regular basis throughout the academic year and which includes the organisation per year of over 60 concerts of all kinds.

Its promotion is also carried out by unique productions that have allowed us to undertake projects with an interdisciplinary approach in collaboration with renowned music directors and stage managers in opera productions, staging, etc., as well as to coordinate and produce various music festivals.

Valencian Music

The Area of Musical productions have always been devoted to monographic programmes and premieres of works of Valencian music, with special attention to the recovery of our rich musical heritage (contemporary premieres) and to the development of the new musical languages (world premieres).

Training objective

On top of this, we never lose sight of the training objective that guides all our actions. All the musicians that comprise our music groups are students who wish to improve their music training by means of choral or orchestral practice. In turn, our trainees give us the chance of offering a regular season of concerts at the Universitat de València.

On the other hand, the Board of Musical Activities is able to offer to the public a wide range of musical productions, from chamber or choral a cappella music to great choral symphonic pieces or operas.

The Board of Musical Activities, constituted in 2016, has its origin in the Trust for Musical Activities created in 1998 by the general Foundation of the Universitat de València.
