Cultural facilities have been one of the basic tools for the deployment of cultural policies. Museums, libraries, cultural centres, theatres and auditoriums populated Western cities throughout the 20th century, becoming icons and benchmarks for the "good public provision" of culture. But in the 21st century, with a less paternalistic perception of access to culture, with new, functional forms of creation, with the evidence of the failure of conventional cultural policy, with demands for greater diversity and the potential of digital access to cultral goods and services... do the old models of cultural infrastructure still serve us?
We pose a debate around these questions and the current reality of the Valencian Community.
