‘Sira’, directed by Burkinabe filmmaker Apolline Traoré, is a powerful and moving story that deals with themes of female empowerment and resilience in adverse contexts. The film premiered at the Berlinale 2023, where it won the Audience Award in the Panorama section and was widely acclaimed for its courageous approach and the emotional intensity of its narrative.

This film has been praised for its portrayal of the strength of African women in extreme circumstances, and its screening at several international festivals has established Traoré as one of the most relevant voices in contemporary African cinema.
