Mònica Perales i Massana

She was born in Barcelona, where she studied piano, solfeggio and harmony in the Local Higher Music School of the city. She is a member of the choirs Diabolus in musica, octet Musica reservata, Cantiga and Lieder Camera. She has collaborated with the latter in the Festival de Perelada in two operas: Elisir d’amore and Il Turco in Italia. She studied singing with Isabel Monar, Men Marquès and Llanos Martínez, and started to study viola with Elizabeth Woltèche. She has been involved in different courses of choral direction with Pierre Cao, Erwing Liszt, Lluís Vila, Josep Vila, Karl Hogset (Lleida, Barcelona, Murcia, and Mallorca).

She works as deputy director of the Choir Aura de Cornellà and the Choir Veus Blanques de L’Arc de Barcelona, which is directed by Ester Bonal.  In 1994, she moved to Valencia, where she continued her choral activity. She is the director of the Choir Villanella, the Choral School of Quart de Poblet, the Choir Cambra Musical de València and the Choir Cambra Caranes.

She has been a member of the choirs Turiae Camerata and Cambra Musical. She has collaborated with the music group Los Músicos de su Alteza. Currently, she is a member of the group of Ancient Valencian Music “Victoria Musicae”.

She has imparted courses of choral direction organised by the Choral School of Aldaia, the Cabildo de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Association AULÒDIA and the Cefires of Godella and Valencia. She organises the summer courses of the Choral Room of Valencia in Benicàssim, Alboraig and Godella.

She coordinates the activities and the courses of Choral Direction organised by FECOCOVA (Federació de Cors de la Comunitat Valenciana) since 2005.

Since the academic course 1994-1995, she directs the Escola de Música Camp de Morvedre of Port de Sagunt.

She has adapted the text of the cantata El patge saguntí and L’origen dels núvols, both being composed by Josep R. Gil-Tàrrega.

She created and directed in March 2006 the Women’s Choir A Cau d’Orella.

She is involved in the courses organised by the Board of Music Activities of the General Foundation of the Universidad de Valencia, in which she teaches the course “La Direcció Coral als Cors Infantils”. In addition, she has been involved in the project “La Nau for Children” of the Universitat de València as director of the choir of La Nau.

She directs the Choral School of the Universitat de València since the academic year 2002-2003. She became the director of the Choral Society of La Nau Gran of the Universitat de València in February 2011.

She is a graduate in History of Art.
