This adaptation of five monologues taken from the works by Dario Fo and Franca Rame, Eight Theatre Monologues (1986) and Let’s Keep Sex Peaceful (1996), is undoubtedly very personal and aims to offer a dramatic progression of both authors’ discourse on women’s struggle to reclaim their dignity. It portrays the difficult daily struggle that women continue to undertake with lucidity and irony throughout this gallery of characters: the first woman, the housewife, the prostitute, the laid-back mother… the same story.
The Performing Arts Classroom of the University of Valencia thus opens its programme of events around International Women’s Day on March 8 and commemorates the centenary of Dario Fo’s birth in 2026.
