Una noche con el Maestro Serrano
Orquestra de València
María Linares, piano
Daniel Gil de Tejada, conductor
Under the title “Una noche con el Maestro Serrano”, the Orquesta de València celebrates the 150th anniversary of José Serrano with his music and a local orchestra. The Valencian conductor Daniel Gil de Tejada, a regular at the Liceu and many other European theatres and auditoriums, proposes a programme with two distinct parts. After Brahms' Academic Festival Overture, the young pianist María Linares –22 years old–, winner of more than twenty national and international piano competitions, will perform the very demanding Piano Concerto No. 2 by Saint Saëns. In the second part, pieces by Serrano and his contemporaries will be performed, with fragments of zarzuela and music from our most popular roots.
