Yaiza Pérez Alonso wins the Chair for Linguistic Rights Award for the best doctoral thesis

Researcher Yaiza Pérez Alonso, full-time trainee doctor of the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology of the Faculty of Social Sciences has been awarded the Chair for Linguistic Rights Prize for the best doctoral thesis.

The title of her thesis is: “Presencia y uso del valenciano en el ámbito comercial” (“Presence and use of Valencian in the commercial sphere”). The results of the fieldwork show a Spanish-speaking commercial linguistic landscape, with a low ethno-linguistic vitality of the Valencian language. This research concludes with proposals for action aimed at promoting linguistic standardisation in the commercial sphere.

The aim of this award is to reward the study of the linguistic rights of users of minority languages, their guarantee and their real materialisation in doctoral theses approved with cum laude mention in Spanish public universities.
