On 26 April, some members of the GIEL group presented, together with the teacher of Primary Education Montse Payà, the project Dificultades de escritura con textos argumentativos y explicativos e intervención didáctica (Writing difficulties with argumentative and explicative texts and didactic intervention).
The act was included in Semanas Complementarias organised by the Faculty of Teacher Training, a quarterly space dedicated to the preparation of workshops and conferences that complement the academic curriculum.
Titled Secuencias didácticas para un proyecto educativo multilingüe. Un trabajo didáctico innovador en el aula, (Didactic sequences for a multilingual educational project. An innovative didactic work in the classroom) the speakers (Paulina Ribera, Montse Payà, María José García Folgado and Alícia Santolària) explained from different points of view the most relevant aspects of experiences and researchs carried out in a public school during the academic year 2011-2012.
In this way, two perspectives were noted. On the one hand, the classroom experiences, narrated by Montse Payà, and, on the other hand, the research planning from the faculty narrated by the others speakers. All of them expressed that the educational interventions done, which were discussed in the school and were included in the research, helped to improve the texts written by children.
In addition, they underlined the need of creating links between both entities with the aim to improve good teaching practices in the academic field, which in the discipline of specific didactics must interweave theoretical and practical knowledge.
Lecturers of the Degree in Primary Education and the Master’s degree in Secondary School, attended the roundtable, as well as a great number of students of the Degree in Primary Education. The experience was positively assessed by speakers and students.
All expressed the need of creating links between university and school, specially concerning the teaching of writing, which is a great challenge for students. Students appreciated being able to attend events that make easier the collaboration between the institution where they are trained and the schools of primary education with examples and publications that show experiences and researches done.
Students also discovered the last publications written by some lecturers who took part in the project and some teachers, such as the book Escrivim edited by Edicions del Bullent. Seqüències didàctiques per a l’escola (Didactic sequences for school), coordinated by Alícia Santolària and Paulina Ribera, with the prologue written by Joaquim Dolz.
