Research in language teaching conferences 2018 of the GIEL group

The annual Conferences of the GIEL group, which will take place on 26 and 27 April, will reflect on the dialectic between innovative teaching practices and qualitative research in the social sciences.

Methodological issues on how to organise our research will be debated, as well as what objectives and questions we formulate, how can we collect data and transcribe it, and how do we understand the process of teaching and learning of languages in a multilingual context. Research in other specific didactics with which we share theoretical and methodological issues will be paid attention, and we will count on professors of the Social Sciences and Experimental Sciences fields.  We will be reflecting on:

a) The challenges that our research presents and the research process (design, implementation and evaluation of the interventions that we will analyse, data analysis, dissemination of the outcomes, etc.)

b) The relations that are established between research in the classroom and innovative practices, i.e. how research can promote innovation in the classroom and how innovation in the classroom can open new research fields.

Organisation

There will be seven speakers that will participate in the conferences, each with a long teaching and research trajectory. The presentations will be grouped thematically in 3 sessions a day and a final dialogue that will allow to put in common and debate all proposals. Every presentation will last 30 minutes. A dialogue between the attendees (teachers, professors of the faculty, doctoral students, Pre-School and Primary School pupils, etc.) will then begin.
