The UV promotes Open Science with a new commission. Cinta Gallent participates, strengthening transparent research and responsible evaluation practices.

The Unviersitat de València has established its Open Science Commission as part of the implementation of the Open Science Policy approved by the Governing Council in October 2025, with the aim of consolidating a research model grounded in transparency, accessibility, and responsibility in research assessment. Among the members of the commission is Cinta Gallent Torres, affiliated with the TeLL-ME research group (Teaching and Learning Languages in Multilingual Education), thereby reinforcing the link between educational innovation and open research practices.

This institutional initiative is based on the understanding of scientific knowledge as a public good and is embedded within a broader strategy aimed at the democratization of research and the promotion of citizen science. In this regard, the commission assumes key responsibilities in defining policies and instruments that facilitate the dissemination of the Universitat de València’s scientific output, in alignment with national and European regulatory frameworks and guidelines.

The inaugural meeting, convened by the Vice-Rector for Research, Carlos Hermenegildo, established the commission’s operating regulations, as well as the creation of a Standing Committee and the appointment of a Secretariat. The appointed members, drawn from diverse fields of expertise—including scientific communication, documentation, legal aspects, and academic publishing—constitute an interdisciplinary body committed to advancing Open Science.

Among its priority actions is the development of a web platform that will integrate resources and services related to open access, including scientific publishing and deposit in the institutional repository RODERIC. In parallel, the commission will promote research data management in accordance with FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable), as well as the incorporation of responsible research assessment criteria.

The commission will also oversee the implementation of an institutional training plan on Open Science for the university community and the preparation of an annual report to monitor progress in its implementation. Additionally, strategic issues such as participation in international initiatives—such as FORTHEM-related forms—and alignment with the principles of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) have been addressed.

Finally, work has begun on the development of a journal admission policy for the Turia platform, with the aim of ensuring quality standards and promoting the diamond open access model, characterized by the absence of costs for both readers and authors.

Through this initiative, the Universitat de València strengthens its commitment to Open Science principles and to the guidelines established by the National Open Science Strategy, fostering a more accessible, collaborative, and socially responsible research ecosystem.
