The Sports Biomechanics Research Group (GIBD) is organizing the XLVI International Congress of the Iberian Society of Biomechanics and Biomaterials (SIBB) 2024, which will be held in the city of Ontinyent (Valencia) on November 7-8, 2024.

Our previous experience in organizing scientific events, such as the I and II Ibero-American Congress on Cycling Sciences (the first edition of the Congress of the Spanish Research Network on Cycling and Women’s Performance (REDICYM)) and the I Congress of Thermography, has provided us with valuable skills to take on this new challenge.

The organization of this congress addresses the need to foster synergies among various sports professionals, highlighting the multidisciplinary nature of our proposal. We are committed to creating a dynamic and participatory congress that will cover a wide range of topics related to sports biomechanics, biomaterials, and biomedicine.

Our goal is for the XLVI International Congress of the SIBB 2024 to become a meeting point for industry professionals, promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange, thus improving the performance of our athletes.

Our venue, at Centre Cultural Caixa Ontinyent, at the city of Ontinyent, is the capital of the Valle de Albaida region, located in the southern part of the province of Valencia. It has a strong textile industry, as well as great agricultural and tourist wealth, known for its famous Moors and Christians festivals. Its environment and privileged location make it one of the places in the Valencian Community with a high number of athletes. This, combined with the drive to make Ontinyent a university city by hosting a campus of the University of Valencia, are more than enough reasons to host the XLVI International Congress of the Iberian Society of Biomechanics and Biomaterials 2024 (SIBB-GIBD ‘24).
