Research on sustainable entrepreneurial business – current research interests of EntreBus research group at the University of Turku, Finland
The EMPRECOOP research group of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Valencia participates as Host Institution in the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ECSB) Visiting Scholar Program.
Within the framework of this program, Professor Kati Suomi will visit the Department between March 27th and 31st. During her visit, on March 30th, Prof. Suomi will deliver the international workshop "Research on sustainable entrepreneurial business – current research interests of EntreBus research group at the University of Turku, Finland" addressed to Department scholars and Ph.D. candidates.
Prof. Suomi holds a tenure-track position as a professor of Business and Entrepreneurship at the Turku School of Economics at the University of Turku (Pori Unit), where she is currently serving as the leader of the research group ENTREBUS. She holds the title of docent (adjunct professorship) at the Faculty of Management and Business at Tampere University. She is a visiting scholar at the University of València for the year 2023 (European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship Visiting Scholars Program). She is an experienced educator with over 14 years of teaching experience from the University of Turku. She is also the responsible person for minor studies in entrepreneurship at the Pori unit of the Turku School of Economics. She teaches entrepreneurship courses and supervises doctoral theses.
Prof. Suomi's current research interests include topics such as entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial university, entrepreneurial marketing, and SME branding. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Business Research, Tourism Management, and the International Journal of Public Sector Management, among others.
Before joining academia in 2008, Prof. Suomi worked for several years in the financial sector, as well as in retailing.
