PODCAST “SUSTAINABLE FINANCE & GREENWASHING”
The EFICO research group is committed to clear, accessible and socially engaged dissemination of its research through the podcast “Sustainable Finance & Greenwashing”, an initiative led, directed and hosted by the Principal Investigator of the group and produced within EspaiPòcastUV, the podcast platform of the University of Valencia. The recording and editing studios are located at the Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació-UV.
This science communication initiative was created with the aim of informing and raising awareness among society at large, and university students, about the role of sustainable finance in the current economic and social context. Throughout its episodes, the podcast addresses, in an engaging and accessible manner, key issues in contemporary economic and business debates, such as what sustainable finance really means, how to distinguish genuine sustainability commitments from greenwashing strategies, and the role played by companies, financial markets and regulation in the transition towards a more responsible economic model.
Each episode combines academic rigour with accessible language, bringing university research closer to the public through conversations with researchers, professionals and experts. This approach enables a critical analysis of both the potential benefits of sustainable finance and the risks associated with its implementation, with particular attention to the phenomenon of greenwashing and its economic, social and reputational implications.
From this critical and outreach-oriented perspective, the podcast seeks to contribute to financial literacy among citizens, placing special emphasis on university students and promoting a deeper understanding of how financial decisions, corporate strategies and public policies influence environmental, social and governance (ESG) sustainability.
Moreover, “Sustainable Finance & Greenwashing” aims to foster critical thinking from the university to society, positioning the university as an active agent in knowledge transfer, informed public debate and civic awareness. Through this initiative, the EFICO research group reinforces its commitment to the dissemination of scientific knowledge and to the social impact of research, offering high-quality content developed with academic rigour and a clear public-service vocation.
