Bioblau, a Group of students of Marine Biology, has organised, with the support of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture of the Universitat de València, the exhibition ‘Els nostres veïns submarins. Bestiari contemporani de la Mediterrània’ (Our submarine neighbours. A contemporary bestiary of the Mediterranean). The exhibition will be hold in the Open Room of La Nau Cultural Centre until 10 January.

“When thinking in the diversity of the fauna in our territory, it is usual to imagine animal species like deers, butterflies, lizards, frogs... However, the Mediterranean coast, as well as the more than 600 km of Valencian coast, are home to species of all kinds”, say members of Bioblau Group.

‘Els nostres veïns submarins. Bestiari contemporani de la Mediterrània’ (Our submarine neighbours. A contemporary bestiary of the Mediterranean) will be open from Tuesday 24 November, after the presentation of the book of Edicions 96 with the same title which gathers all the images of the exhibition and many others that have been taken for this project. This dissemination work will be presented at 19:00, in the Transparent Room of La Nau and after that, the exhibition will be presented in the Open Room.

Evolutionarily structured by animal classes, the exhibition consists of a selection of 50 submarine pictures of the fauna from the Mediterranean Sea, and is accompanied by explanatory texts which zoologically contextualise each group, and also verses created for this occasion.

The organising students group describes the expository project: “This project invites us to a journey thanks to the synergy between science and art towards the organisms which populate our blue sea: from the most spectacular, notable and well-known, to the most hidden and curious creatures. A space to enjoy the snapshots of some inhabitants who belong to us and to whom we belong, who are part of our natural values and that equally deserve our respect and admiration”.
