Polibienestar, the Research Institute on Social Welfare Policy, organizes a European seminar about active ageing and intergenerational solidarity

The Universitat de València’s Research Institute on Social Welfare Policy – Polibienestar – has been hosting a seminar under the framework of European project ENSA which finishes today, May 16th. This project’s mission is contributing to the creation of activities promoting the participation of young people and the implementation of non-formal education.

The public session is took place yesterday from 9:00 to 13:00 in the Facultat de Filologia’s conference room. Yesterday's afternoon and today, partners and coordinators of this European project are holding internal work meetings. On the occasion of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, Jorge Garcés and Mireia Ferri – both Polibienestar’s researchers in charge of this project – have suggested to tackle intergenerational solidarity on the last meeting.

The project’s coordinator entity is the department of social services and health in the Veneto region (Italy), and the partners are the State Department for Public Health in the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region (The Netherlands), the Universitat de València’s Polibienestar, Dirección General de la Juventud in Madrid, the Office for Youth and Family in Viena (Austria), Co.GE.S. Sociedad Social Cooperative de Venecia (Italy), and Kleis vzw de Evere (Belgium). Through some meetings, which have took place in difference countries in the consortium, many topics as the youth’s safety, volunteering, social inclusion, disability, and non-formal education, among others, have been dealt with.

Polibienestar is a interdisciplinary research institute in Universitat de València. It is a referent in Spain, and it has specialized in research, innovation and social technology, technical advising and education in the social policy field. Eighteen top level researchers belonging to eight different departments at Universitat de València work in Polibienestar.
