The Principal of the University of Valencia, Esteban Morcillo, and the Vice-Principal for Culture, Equality and Communication, Antonio Ariño, have received in the Cultural Centre La Nau a group of students of the University of Konstanz (Germany), which are visiting Valencia on occasion of a seminar on the work of the writer and journalist Alfons Cervera. The conferences, which will start tomorrow Friday at Xestalgar, the birthplace of Cervera, analyze until next Sunday the work of the author, in the House of Culture of the village.

The Principal of the University of Valencia has emphasized the importance of these activities as they underscore “ the cross-border and transversal nature of universities”, institutions that as he recalled, “emerged in the medieval period, but still sharing the concept of university community, fact that gives confidence in a world more and more global” He also reminded that the University of Valencia, with nearly 1.800 students, is the second University in Europe in hosting Erasmus students. And that Alfons Cervera coordinator of the Discussion Forum is a very dear person to the institution.

On the other hand, Pere Joan i Tous , professor at the German university and who leads the students delegation, has explained that is the third seminar that his university has done on the work of Alfons Cervera. He has emphasized about the author “the literary quality of his work and his constant concern for the recovery of memory” which makes him “one of the most interesting writers of contemporary European literature”. This fact makes him part of the studies of Spanish Philology in his institution.

For Alfons Cervera, this third seminar, which brings together in his village to professors, journalists and scholars of his work and even some of the main characters (and, of course, landscapes) which have inspired his novels, is an activity that delights him. And also means “a big celebration” in this inland village of the region of the Serrans.
