A cavall entre dos segles
Biological invasions: The consequences of mixing nature.

Summer University of Gandia. The course aims to give a multifaceted view of the processes of introduction of exotic species and their consequences on the natural environments and biological communities that we want to preserve. First there will be a brief introduction to the movement of global spread of alien species and how they can become invasive. The fundamental features that facilitate invasion processes and examples of significant impacts of invasive species on terrestrial and aquatic environments will be discussed. There will also be detailed cases of actions taken to try to eradicate or reduce the impact of these species in nearby territories and will discuss how we can work to better anticipate and prevent invasions, and how to make this growing problem of global reach widely known to society.
