Training conference in Carcaixent 21 october

The UV, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation and the City Council of Carcaixent, organises the event “Challenges and Opportunities after a Forest Fire”, targeted to representatives of municipal corporations as well as to all the people interested or affected by forest fires.

In the Valencian Community are concentrated the the most part of the big fires occurred in Spain in the last decades. The first impression when there is a forest fire, especially if it has large dimensions, is the social, economic and environmental catastrophe. Nevertheless, forest fires are also natural events, many species are adapted to the periodical fires, and the biodiversity itself depends in part on their occurrence.

This event aims to analyse the fires from a environmental and socioeconomic perspective, the desirable frequency for them to be a positive phenomenon to biodiversity and the negative consequences than an excessive frequency or virulence could involve, usually caused directly or indirectly by human hand. On the basis of a general perspective, it is intended to focus the attention in the fire occurred in June 2016 in the municipality of Carcaixent, where there burned more than 2.000 hectares, trying to think about it, debate and contribute ideas to help in the recovery.
