The volume studies more than a hundred of accused canvassers or reported to the court of the Santo Oficio de Valencia between the years 1651 and 1819 related a much more generalized facts: defenceless, submissive, terrified, isolated women who suffer from abuse despite the fact that we are going to find alternate realities ─ from brutal violence to love stories.

El valenciano Enrique Dupuy y el Japón del siglo XIX by Mario G. Losano

The first destination of the young Spanish diplomatic Enrique Dupuy de Lôme was Japan where he lived between 1873 and 1875. During this time, the Asian country was being opened to the western world after almost two hundred and fifty isolation years.

This work also talks about the diplomate's figure, reproduces entirely Dupuy’s text showing a general perspective about the transformation of Japan.
