Description:

This course is part of the 36th edition of the Summer Univerity of Gandia.

Overview:

What is the main imaginary about Africa and Africans in Spain nowadays? What stereotypes are activated with this representation? To what extent can this image be the heir to representation of the colonial period? How are those stereotypes affecting the lived of Africans and descendants of Africans in Spain? What strategies are being used to raise the awareness about this clichés? The objective of the course is to answer these questions from a multidisciplinary and anti-colonial perspective.
