Academic excellence in the UV Olympiads 2023-2024

Over 1,900 students have participated in one of the 14 Olympiads modalities, or academic disciplines, and 72 have been awarded with a scholarship to study at the Universitat de València.

The Universitat de València has successfully celebrated the Academic Olympiads 2023-2024, an event that serves as a bridge between secondary education and the university, promoting the study of the different academic disciplines.

The event
The Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication of the UV hosted the awards ceremony for the UV Olympiads. This is an initiative seeking to promote the study of different areas of knowledge, which rewards effort and academic excellence and benefits highlighted students so that they can study an undergraduate degree at the Universitat de València.

Over 1,900 students from over 406 secondary and upper secondary education centres from Valencia have proven their aptitude and knowledge in the following areas of study: biology, geology, physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer science, classic languages, economy, Valencian language, history, art history, geography and linguistics.

The ceremony was chaired by President of the Universitat de València Maria Vicenra Mestre, Vice-President of Studies Isabel Vázques, and the delegate of University Integration Maria José Lorente, who were in charge of handing out the diplomas and certificates to the winners.

Modalities and winners
During the ceremony, there were 72 winners in 14 Olympiad modalities or academic disciplines.

In the Biology Olympiad, there were 10 winners: Katia López Huang, Vicente Martín Melgarejo Riquelme, Alba Marín Valera, Ángel García Andreu, Mario Roche Espert, Sonia Calatayud Manzaneque, Paula López Jiménez, Mar Soler Moreno, Carmen Seijo Rodríguez and Carlos Gabarda Benavent.

The winners of the Classic Languages Olympiad were: Carlos Coronado Casadas, Natalia López Matei, Ainara García Martín, Inés Montes Muñoz, Xavier Aritz Navarro Montañana and Daniel López Oliver, who demonstrated a deep knowledge of the classic arts.

On the other hand, the winners of the Economics Olympiad were: David García Molina, Carles Blázquez Mateu, Sergio Cucarella Francés, Inés Sales Jordá, Jorge Espiga Losas, Laura Rodríguez Martínez, Nur Lo Manchoud Jareño, Daniela García Sánchez, Guillem López Burgal and Lola Hernández Vicente.

In the Philosophy Olympiad the winners were: Ángel García Andreu, Natalia Garrigues Romero and Santos Martínez Lacal.

The winners of the Physics Olympiad were: Luis David Minuesa Figueras, Olaf Imiolek, Alberto Carpano Atienza, Ángel García Andreu and Ana Maset Sola, thanks to their innovative contributions.

Marcos Cervera García, Irene Lloret Sala and Sergio Martínez Sebastián were the winners of the Geography Olympiad.

While the winners of the Geology Olympiad were: Ariadna Carrascosa Soriano, Maria Salavert Gadea, Irene Makay García and Nuria Lucero Cuenca.

In the History Olympiad, the winners were: Ariadna Trinidad Tapia Tamagna, Xiang Li and Raúl Sevilla Ballesteros.

Diego Hernández González, Alicia Domingo Romero and Clara Cerezo Amat stood out in the History of Art Olympiad.

The winners of the Computer Science Olympiad were: Daniel Nieto Pérez, Pedro Segarra Ferrer and Dan Manuel Vancea, who showed impressive technical skills.

While the winners of the Linguistics Olympiad were: Sofía Ortiz López, Nuria Sevilla Burguet and Sandra Manzaneque Díaz.

In the Mathematics Olympiad, the winners were: Ariadna Franch Pérez, Carlos Calderón Alba, Olaf Miolek, Zexuan Huang, Andrés Asensi Ballester and Ángel García Andreu, awarded for their analytical and skilful minds.

Carlos Calderón Alba, Alejandro Verdú Gómez, Ángel García Andreu, Katia López Huang, Enrique Cortés Tirado and Ruth Gómez Pericás won the Chemistry Olympiad thanks to their contributions.

Finally, the winners of the Valencian Language Olympiad were: Luis David Minuesa Figueras, Iván Orts Verdú, Sara Zahra Laassiri Chaiby, Clara Blasco López, Joan Gallart Alepuz and Edurne López San Félix, who showed a deep knowledge of the Valencian language.

Academic excellence and a commitment to the future
Each of the winners, who were recognised for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields, received a grant of €1,000 towards their undergraduate studies at the Universitat de València.

The Universitat de València, through the Delegation for University Integration, has collaborated closely with secondary education centres for the local phases of the Olympiads for another year. In this way, the UV reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence and the bright future of its students.
