The first edition of the ‘Va De Dades’ contest will be held in the ‘Manuel Valdivia’ Graduate Hall of the Faculty of Mathematics on 15 June at 10:30am. During the sessions, the projects submitted by the student groups will be presented to the judges, followed by the awards ceremony.

The works have been carried out by students of ESO, Bachillerato and FP of the Valencian region, with the tutoring of teachers from their schools.

Forty-five students from  compulsory secondary education (ESO), Bachillerato and Vocational Training (FP), from seven schools in the Valencian region, have participated in this first edition with the presentation of seventeen projects, tutored by teachers from their schools.

This event aims to awaken the curiosity of statistics in young students as a fundamental tool in research and data analysis, both in experimental and social sciences.

This Thursday, 15 June, the Faculty of Mathematics will host a panel of judges who will evaluate the projects submitted and award a prize in each of the three categories of the competition: 1st and 2nd ESO; 3rd and 4th ESO and Basic Level Training Cycles; and the third, in which students from Bachillerato and Intermediate Level Training Cycles present their projects.

The competition is a local phase in the Valencian region of the 'Incubadora de Sondeos y Experimentos' (Incubator of Surveys and Experiments) competition, organised by the Sociedad de Estadística e Investigación Operativa (Society for Statistics and Operations Research). The winning teams will represent the Valencian region in the ‘XII National Phase of the Incubator of Surveys and Experiments,’ which will be held in Zaragoza on the 22, 28 and 29 June this year.
