Título: Magnetic fields and radio diffuse emission in galaxy clusters
Lugar: Seminario del DAA. Edificio Investigación Jeroni Muñoz, planta cuarta, en Burjassot.
Día: miércoles 15 de septiembre de 2024. Hora: 15:00.
Resumen:
Galaxy clusters host Mpc-scale diffuse radio emission in the form of radio halos and radio
relics giving us evidence of large-scale magnetic fields in the Universe and cosmic-ray electrons
(CRe). In this talk, I will discuss the important role of turbulence and shocks in the intracluster
medium (ICM). I will touch upon the topics of magnetic amplification in galaxy clusters due to
turbulent dynamo, the modelling of synchrotron emission at shocks and the role of AGN CRe with
the cluster environment. Special focus will be given to the role of thermal and fossil electrons in
being a plausible explanation for current radio observations. I will additionally discuss the efforts
put on hybrid numerical frameworks to study continuum and polarised emission in MHD simulations
of galaxy clusters.
