According to the current regulation of the official studies to reach the PhD status (Royal Decree 99/2011), the main purpose of the doctoral programs is the advanced training in research techniques through the organization of training and research activities prior the defense of a doctoral thesis to obtain the title of doctor.
In this context, the Doctorate Program in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (PDBiBE) of the University of Valencia aims at the training of doctors with the ability to carry out original, basic and / or applied research to help satisfy the demand for experts able to perform research and teaching in the field of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology.
To do so, the Program has a permanent Faculty staff organized in ten research lines:
L01. Plant Diversity, Physiology and Development
L02. Diversity and Ecology of Terrestrial Animals: Fundamental and Applied Aspects
L03. Integrative Aquatic Ecology
L04. Ecology of Evolutionary and Behavioral Populations
L05. Ecology and Plant Evolution
L06. Evolution and Variability of Viruses and Bacteria
L07. Evolutionary Genetics
L08. Limnology
L09. Paleontology
L10. Marine Zoology
As part of the Universitat de València’s R&D strategy, the PDBiBE maintains and favors the collaboration with external institutions (universities, research centers and companies), both nationals and internationals, research allies with our doctoral theses supervisors. These collaborations facilitate the mobility and internationalization of the students enrolled in our Program. For this reason, in addition to the faculty staff, the PDBiBE admits the incorporation of additional researchers from the Universitat de València as well as other research centers and universities with the purpose of supervising specific theses related to our research lines. To become a researcher associated to the PDBiBE either permanently or for the supervision of a specific thesis, it is necessary to fulfill some requirements, and to address a request, a personal file and a CV to docbiodiver@uv.es.
Currently, doctoral researchers linked to the PDBiBE carry out their research work in one of the following entities:
