The call is open, until September 30, for a PhD fellowship at the University of Évora, Portugal.
Field: Earth and Atmospheric Sciences: Meteorology and Climate
Project: ALentejo Observation and Prediction system (ALOP)
Admission requirements:
· Master in the area of Atmospheric and Earth Sciences or a related field.
· Work experience in analysis and processing of data in atmospheric sciences.
· It will be valued his/her education based on mathematics, physics and meteorology, scientific publications, as well as the computer skills with proficiency in at least one programming language.
· It will be valued the intention to enroll in a doctoral program at the University of Évora.
Work plan:
The researcher will develop its work in Task 3 of ALOP project under the theme “Implementation of measurements and observations program allowing the development of tasks 1 and 2 and includes the following components:
(i) Harmonization of automatic weather stations of the region from different entities;
(ii) Implementation of satellite remote sensing techniques to estimate the water quality in Alqueva reservoir;
(iii) Implementation of the atmosphere and water / air interface observations in Alqueva reservoir, including instrumentation for:
· measurements of the mass and energy fluxes (CO2 and water vapor);
· measurements of solar radiation, including direct normal irradiance (DNI) with high spectral resolution;
(iv) Set up a reference station on a floating platform in the Alqueva reservoir, with continuous measurement instrumentation.
Workplace: The work will be done in Évora Pole of the Institute of Earth Sciences (University of Évora), under the supervision of Maria João Costa and Miguel Potes.
