Teaching staff of the ETSE-UV participates in the València 5G Week to make Valencia the first city in Europa to have access to 5G

The Valencia 5G week, the Global 5G Event (G5GE) and the European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC) will take place at the Valencia Conference Centre between the 17th and 21st June. ETSE-UV professors are involved in the event. Both events are part of the programme of activities of the agreement Valencia5G signed by the Valencian Government (GVA), the City Council of Valencia, the Universitat de València (UV) and the Universitat Politécnica de València (UPV). They aim to develop and promote the implementation of 5G in Valencia and promote the transformation of the communications and the exchange of information.

The commitment of ETSE-UV to this agreement can be easily observed as several professors of the School are involved in research activities focused on 5G. Alongside these sessions, G5GE develops a forum of discussion with live showing of 5G technologies in several points of the city such as the Marina de Valencia, the City Centre or the City of Arts and Sciences.

Sandra Roger, professor of the UV Computing Department, is part of the local organising committee of the conferences. She will additionally moderte the session that addresses the progress of communications for autonomous driving and will contribute with the work “Signaling Reduction in 5G eV2X Communications Based on Vehicle Grouping” aloongside researchers of UPV and the company Huawei. The work presents new communication structures based in associations of vehicles that avoid the disseminaiton of superfluous information through 5G network with the objective of having a quicker and more efficient communication.

The sessions are supported by the European Commission, IEEE and EURASIP. It is one of the most important European meetings on communications and global networks. 500 people are expected to attend this event focused on telecommunications systems and networks.
