La Nau Jove of Universitat de València in collaboration with ETSE-UV has organized three days of Workshops of Recreational Robotics in which adolescents between 13 and 16 years of age can program and experiment with micro-robots. These workshops form a part of a programme full of other activities organized by la Nau Jove, all of which are consistent with the philosophy of passing on knowledge in a fun and experimental way.

The workshops, organized by researchers and professors of Grupo de Investigación DSDC (DSDC Research Group) and by IEE University of Valencia Student Branch (IEEEsbUV) try to show, in both a pleasant and practical way, the basics of electronics, information technology and mechanics which form a part of robotics. The participants have been able to program robot sensors and controllers based on LEGO and Arduino.

The goal of these projects about Robotics is to teach secondary school students some of the applications that Engineering might have, and to provide them with a learning opportunity which involves building, programming and experimentation with robots.

Throughout this process, key concepts related to new technologies, mathematics, physics, teamwork and communication are introduced. At the same time, the participants learn how to explore, plan and solve problems.
