THE ADDED VALUE is different according the sector, there is no universal ADDED VALUE. We must know our own sector in order to find the ADDED VALUE. According the ADDED VALURE that we want to protect we have to define ours protection strategy. The logical strategy is to aim our product or service in order to be able to protect its added value so that exclusively us can have its advantages. When the added value is to us exclusively, we make it a competitive advantage. Sometimes, the ADDED VALUE may not be on the main product or service, but in its complementary or even trading elements.

Summary: Certain tradition in evolutionary biology, based on the large amount of empirical evidences, pledges that contingency marks the dynamics of the evolution in a way that it becomes unpredictable. The tendency to the appearance of increasing complexity remains within the umbrella of contingent evolution insofar as it is inevitable given that, passively, we can only hope that sooner or later more complex entities that have evolved from simpler original entities will appear. This is what Gould calls "the passive tendency towards complexity marked by the wall of minimal initial complexity".
